Begin your journey by exploring the renowned Dinosaur National Monument, carved in sandstone by the green river, featuring its iconic wall of bones, a must-visit for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Located in an area known at the Uintah Basin, you'll find some fun and exciting folklore. From stories of Butch Cassidy and The Wild Bunch, you can visit and hike and area known as the Josie Morris ranch and visit where the gang was known to hide out. You can drive a scenic area and see ancient petroglyphs and Native American artifacts. Some of the best whitewater rafting in Utah is found in this area on the Green River. You can take a 1 day trip on your own by renting a raft from Flaming Gorge Lodge. Or for the more adventurous you can get in touch with the famed Hatch River and take a multi-day adventure called the Gates of Ladore. There are also other groups in town like Adrift Adventures. Visit the local Field House of Natural History to see some of the local dinosaur exhibits, Native American artifacts as well as local geology. Vernal also boasts two other Museums. The DUP museum is open seasonally chocked full of local pioneer area history and the Western Heritage Museum open daily.
